Another HOAX e-mail spreads in my inbox:

Kami beritahukan kepada seluruh pelanggan bahwa perusahaan kami, Apple Corporation yang berkantor pusat di Cupertino, California US membuka kantor pemasaran di Jakarta, Indonesia

Produk yang kami pasarkan adalah Hand Phone tipe iPhone3G yang dilengkapi dengan teknologi GPS, Wi-Fi, bluetooth, video-audio, camera-photo, 16GB flash drive capacity, dll.

Untuk peluncuran perdana di Indonesia, kami akan memberikan secara gratis produk terbaru HP iPhone3G yang dilengkapi features seperti diatas.

Dengan memberikan iPhone3G ini, kami berharap akan mendapatkan umpan balik yang berharga dari para pelanggan dan mendapatkan efek promosi berantai yang besar.

Yang harus anda lakukan adalah:

- Fowardkan pesan ini kepada 20 orang teman. Setelah 2 minggu waktu pengiriman, anda akan menerima sebuah iPhone3G. Sebelumnya kami akan mengontak anda untuk alamat detail pengiriman, atau

Why this email is a hoax?

• Is the office for Apple Corporation – Jakarta Office stated from the contact information is really exist?
• This is some kind of promotion chain or only a junk?
• Is there anyone who forwarded this e-mail already receive the promised iPhone and/or iPod from Apple Corp? The first forwarder of this email had forwarded on Thursday, October 30, 2008 1:48 PM. More than 2 weeks ago! He/she should be already receiving iPhone or iPod as promised. But had she/he?
• How to count forwarded message? Although it is possible, but I think It’s very difficult to trace. Even by a automated program.
• Why such a great company like Apple Corp. is using this weird method to promote their product? They have money, they have brand name. It’s more effective to promote through television than through email.
• This is not a charity from Apple, will Apple be more profitable by our email? Why would Apple give their precious product for free for such emails?
• Why their sales manager email domain is asia.com? not apple.co.id nor apple.com. I think Asia.com has no such relationship with Apple. Just open http://asia.com website and you will know why.
• How could they send their product to us? we just forwarding the email and our email address but not our address right? Send back the iPod/iPhone to our email?
• There’s no confirmation about the truth of the manager contact information. Even the best search engine: google.com

As far as I know, Apple iPhone always sold with bundled operator. There’s no operator in Indonesia who bundled iPhone as their product. Even there’s iPhone for sale in Indonesia, the iPhone is already ‘cracked’ so it can be used in Indonesia. Until now, I don’t even know that formal distributor of Apple iPhone in Indonesia is really exist and give original warranty from Apple.
